Spring temperatures can be tough to dress for with combinations of humidity, rain and, a weather condition that has confused us hugely in the UK this year, snow! Layering for spring is something to celebrate, as the weather is often so unpredictable, spring style is about throwing on all of your favourite staple items and then stripping them off when the sun decides to show.
Much like the other seasons there are some rules that should be stuck to. Firstly, be adventurous with colours and patterns. Secondly, be sure to avoid anything too bulky, you want to wear multiple thin and easily removable layers, get those huge knits to the back of the wardrobe! Thirdly, stick to a maximum of three separates at one time when executing your spring layered look.
Here are some of our favourite layer combinations:
Throwing a coloured, or black blazer, over the top of your usual t-shirt and jeans, instantly adds an element of class and sophistication to your outfit. As it isn’t quite warm enough to brave the weather in just the two layers, a blazer would look great under a long duffle jacket. If you have gone for a bright coloured blazer then a black duffle coat will look best and vice versa.

A silk cami over a loose tee is a classic spring look. Style this combo with some mom jeans and white trainers for the ultimate laid back seasonal outfit. As for the layers, a brightly colored duster coat is the perfect finishing touch for this outfit, like this green ASOS one!

Cardigans aren’t reserved for your Grandma, they are the perfect item for layering in spring. With so many styles of cardigans on the market, they look amazing underneath a leather jacket and give your outfit a textured look. Much like blazers, you can experiment with colour, adding a pastel or brightly coloured cardi under a black leather jacket is an easy way to incorporate a pop of colour into your outfit.
